Project: LEARN Opens Third Bookstore
There was cause for celebration July 1, 2011 as Project: LEARN held the ribbon cutting ceremony that officially opened a third branch of The BookShelf, a used bookstore, located at 130 Main Street, Wadsworth. The first and second branches of The BookShelf opened in Medina and Brunswick, respectively, and the success they have enjoyed encouraged and enabled the organization to make one available to the Wadsworth community as well.
After Project: LEARN Board President Bill Whelan and Wadsworth City Council President Tom Palecek cut the ribbon, Project: LEARN Executive Director Linda Smalley, along with some of the organization's volunteers and board members, invited guests to walk through the extremely well planned facility that took six weeks to get ready for this opening. Before becoming the home of The BookShelf, the building served as a bank, an insurance company, and a law office.

Project: LEARN's Used Bookstore
At the end of December 2007, Project: LEARN had to reevaluate how they raised funds to provide the necessary services to students. The economy was starting to look pretty grim and budgets were being cut back drastically so there was serious cause for concern on if and how we would be able to continue to provide the very much needed tutoring services throughout Medina County. Project: LEARN had to find a revenue stream that would:
- Relate to our service.
- Be handled by volunteers.
- Be started on a shoestring.
- Not impact other Non-Profits in the County.
With all of that in mind, the idea of a store front to support the rent and tutoring space in the back began to formulate. Project: LEARN's The BookShelf, a gently used retail bookstore in Medina, was born! Through the efforts of dedicated volunteers and staff, The BookShelf became a huge success. With such positive results from the Medina store, a decision was made to open a second location. On March 1st, 2010 we opened our second BookShelf and LIteracy Center location in Brunswick. In order to be of service to even more of Medina County, a Wadsworth BookShelf and tutoring center was opened on July 1, 2011.
